Suggested Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs)

(We do not create Army Doctrine)

While difficult to organize, the following is/will be a growing list of suggested TTPs for non-standard military equipment. For obvious reasons, in many cases information cannot be provided here that would compromise the mission. We appologize in advance if it seems at times "lacking." If you need further help, send an email and perhaps we can help more.

MARCbot

The MARCbot is a prototype small robotic platform aimed squarely at inspection of suspicious objects during IED Sweeps. The suggested TTPs herein aim to help soldiers with driving, care, repair, and maintenance tips.

Reduce Soldier Load: Using Rechargeable AA Batteries

Especially valuable on dismounted missions (e.g. Afghanistan...), rechargeable AA batteries both last longer than the standard Army batteries and can be recharged for "free" from "dead" BA-5590s. Yes, that means that you only carry a few spare AAs and the charger, and recharge used ones from the "dead" x90 batteries from the RTO.

Disable Local Padlocks Without Breaking Them

Roughly 80% of the padlocks in Afghanistan (and many in Iraq, and most of the third world) can be quickly disabled and opened in under 20 seconds using padlock shims. Using this asset will reduce (but not remove) the need to carry bolt cutters, reduce the number of doors kicked down, and reduce tensions with locals. It helps us to win hearts and minds by not breaking innocent locals' doors and trunks. It also makes your job a lot easier.
